Door Hanger Recipe - For Paper Play

Hello everyone, I hope you’re doing well?

Today is Thursday and that means a new challenge over at Paper Play!

The theme for this week’s challenge is...............

A Recipe!!!

3 Different Embellishments, 2 Patterned Papers and 1 Lace! 

That’s the recipe!

Here is my creation:

My mother and I have been invited to a Friend’s baby shower on Saturday, so I decided to make a girly door hanger for her, to warn her other children when the baby is sleeping. 

I used one of my favourite stamps. It’s a Whiff Of Joy Stamp Called: Willow Holding Baby.

I have been wanting to use this stamp on a door-hanger for our house ever since my mother fell pregnant, with her last baby. But when my mother lost the baby, I had no use of making it anymore. Now I made one for this lady and I really, really hope and pray that I will be able to make one for our home for a new baby too, very soon.

I coloured this stamp with the following Copics:

 E37, E35, E33 and E53 - for her hair and the baby’s hair.

R20, R21 and E00 - for their skin.

G17, G14 and G12 - for her green dress.

RV34, RV13 and RV10 - for the baby’s blanket and the lace on the mother’s dress.

W3 - for a shadow around the stamp.

On the left I wrote: “Shhh........ Baby Sleeping” in my favourite font and printed it in dark pink. I added a flower at the top of the image as one of the embellishments. On the right I added five dark pink pearls for another embellishment.

For the third embellishment, I made holes in the top two corners with gold eyelids and threaded an organza light pink ribbon through.

This lace was the left over of the skirt my mother made me for my birthday and I think it really looks nice on this creation!

I printed out a little poem and stuck it at the back of the door hang and I think it makes it very special.

Blue, Buttons Bling Card for Stampin for the Weekend.

Hello everyone, I hope you all had a good week!

It’s Friday again and time for a new challenge over at Stampin for the Weekend!!

The theme for this two weeks is................

Blue, Buttons and Bling!!!

So here is my card to show you!

I normally find it difficult to make boy cards and to use buttons! I hardly EVER use buttons. I just can’t think of a way to arrange them in a creative way I like! 

But with this card I managed pretty well! 

I used an old Sugar Nellie stamp and colored it with the following Copics:

E00, E21 and R20 - for the baby’s skin 

B05, B02 and B000 - for the baby’s nappy and the blue lines of his hat.

Y15, Y11 and Y00 - for the yellow on his hat.

G17, G14 and G12 - for the flowers on his hat.

W3 - for a shadow around the stamp.

I found a few new ideas for buttons and I think this one looks best! 

Punching holes in the paper, then putting the ribbon through and make a knot.

And for the finishing touch, I put buttons onto every second knot.

I wrote “It’s a Boy” in a dark blue color, on a light blue card stock, and then stuck it on a yellow piece of paper.

This is a little squirrel I cut out of some of the paper.

Baby Girl Card - For Stampin for the Weekend

Hello everyone, hope you’re all doing well.

We are all doing great.

It is Friday and time for another challenge over at Stampin for the Weekend.

The theme for the week is:

A sketch with a Twist and the twist is that you must use a butterfly somewhere on your project.

So here is my card:

A baby’s birth is like spring when new flowers blossom and since it is spring here in South Africa. I think this stamp fit well with the paper.

Here is the sketch

I used a Whiff of Joy stamp called Willow holding Baby I coloured her with the following Promarkers:

Spice and Terracotta - for Willow and the baby’s hair 

Blush - for their skin

Rose Pink - for Willow’s hair 

Pastel Yellow - for the baby’s blanket

Cool Gray - for all around the stamp 

I folded the bottom left corner over and stuck it to the paper with a brat.

I also let a butterfly charm hang from a ribbon, that is stuck to the lace.

I also put two pink flowers in the top right corner of the stamp, and then I stuck a butterfly next to it so that it looks like the butterfly is flying to the flowers.

An “All About Babies” Card

Hello everyone this week I made two cards!

My first one was an easel card, and then a baby card.

A few weeks ago I made a Christmas card and to my surprise, I won The Corrosive Challenges Blog, and this is what I won:

Yeah!! I’m thrilled to be GDT for a month.

The theme for this weeks challenge is “All About Babies”.

This was so easy, since we have so many babies in our house!

Some time ago I won a $20 voucher at Sew Many cards and digital stamps, but that was quite some time ago. I never had pencils to colour Digi stamps so I never used the voucher.

(now I have Promarkers)

A few weeks ago I ordered some rubber stamps from Whiff of Joy and was hoping it would be here in time for this weeks baby’s challenge!

Unfortunately they haven’t arrived yet! I was very disappointed but my mother reminded me about my Sew Many Cards voucher. I could buy seven Digi stamps and “Tayla Stork” is one of them.

I struggled a bit not to let the ink run with my Promarkers but after a few attempts, one turned out okay. I also heat it with my mom’s hair dryer, before I coloured it!

If you have a secret to keep digit stamps from running when coloured with Promarkers or Copics, PLEASE share it with me!

I used the flowing Promarkers for this stamp:

Dusky Pink – for the body of the duck and mouth of the little animal

Apple, Rose Pink and yellow – for the Duck’s hat

Yellow - for the ribbon on the duck neck, Welcome baby tag and duck’s Bick

Prussian – for one of the patches on the duck

Gold – for the feet of the duck and the baby in the parcel

Sky blue – for the baby bag and a patch on the duck

Cool Grey 1 – for a shadow around the stamp.

Here I wrote Bundle of Joy.

I though it will fit the card well!

I cut out little circles of images with names and stuck them all over the card, which gave the card a real “All About Babies”-feeling!!

It was very easy to make a bundle of joy card since we already had 8 bundles of joy in our house!

Here is a picture of our newest bundle of joy.

Michael is really growing up so fast!

He is 6 months and is so sweet.

When ever you smile at him, he smiles back at you.

Michael is also now starting to play with toys - so cute!!

David (3 1/2 years), Andrew (5 years) and Little Daniel who turned two today!

So as I said, it is so easy to make a baby card, with babies all over the house.

Another Baby Card For A Girl

Hi all my blog friends. I’m currently into making lots of baby cards!

This week I made a card for Stampin For The Weekend and the theme is a recipe of: 3 Papers, 2 flowers and one ribbon.Stampin For The weekend have two sponsors, the following two weeks, so there will be two winners!

One from Peachy Keen Stamps and

one from Meljen Designs Digi Stamps also sponsoring 4 digi's of winners choice.

All our DT members received Peachy Keen Stamps (already stamped on paper) to use with this challenge and the stamp I received was a baby stamp!

So here is my card

My parents bought me a set of 13 Promarkers for my birthday on Sunday!

I used to colour my stamps with water colouring pencils.

I will write more about my birthday in another posting soon.

So this stamp I coloured with Promarkers –

Sandstone for the teddy’s body,

Rose Pink for the nappy, hat and blanket,

Dusky Pink For the teddy’s face and paws,

Yellow and Gold for the moon and star.

And last of all Cool Grey 1 as shadow around the stamp.

To finish it off, I used a white gel pen on the legs and blanket.

I put two flowers on the top right and bottom left corner of the stamp.

I also put gems just above the stamp’s left top corner.

I love this ribbon!

It makes me think of little children playing in paint with their feet and then walk all over mommy’s clean floor!

Congratulation Card for a Baby

Hello every one, thank you for stopping by at my blog today.

I really appreciate it!

This week I made a card for Stampin for the weekend.

Jan, Sandie and the DT members of Stampin for the Weekend asked me to join them for 6 months!

So this is not my last time with them.

This week’s challenge was a sketch in which you must include the colours blue and yellow.

This is the sketch; I just loved working with it!

Here is my card. I made the card for a friend of my mom who is expecting her baby in 7 weeks.

Aunty Emma is always so happy and full of joy! I never hear her complain about anything.

She is expecting her fourth child, a little boy.

So I made her a lovely card.

I used a stamp of my Sugar Nellie collection called Vintage Baby.

When I got the paper I knew exactly what stamp I was to use and to whom I will give it.

I glittered the cloud that the baby is sleeping on with silver glitter and believe me it took a while!

I put two rows of star ribbon on the left bottom corner.

I bought the ribbon long ago and never used it.

It fitted perfectly with this card!

Here I wrote Dream Baby, because Aunty Emma has such a soft, dreamy look in her eyes when she talks about this new baby!

I made a corner out of paper and put it on a pop-up.

I also glued some golden stars on the card to give it a finishing touch.
