Michael’s 5th Birthday

On the 29th of January was Michael’s 5th birthday! Our little baby brother is already 5 years old. I can’t believe it!

In the Lues house, if your under the age of 8, you get to pick a theme for your birthday cake. 

A couple of weeks ago the older family members (That is my parents, and the 4 older children) started watching the Star Wars Trilogy. We put the little ones in bed  and then watch a ‘big people’ movie.  

Danika then started telling the little boys all about the cool starships and robots. They also saw them in the Lego catalog. So much that Michael asked if he could please have an R2D2 (One of the little robots) birthday cake! 

CJ and I volunteered to make the cake this time. It is definitely more colourful than the original! 

CJ was the one adding all the sweets (different buttons and lights), while I decorated with the little roses. 

Michael loves the beach, so we decided to take him to the beautiful Camps Bay Beach for his birthday party. It was a wonderful wind still sunny day with friends at the crystal clear sea. 

Under the shade we blew the candles. The little boys enjoyed eating cake and playing on the beach so much!

Photos Of My Brother CJ’s 18th Birthday!

I can’t believe it, my big brother is 18 years old! His birthday was on the 17th, and I thought I would share a few photos of his special day with you.

He is such a close friend of mine. We do lost of things together and I can tell him just about anything and know he would never tell anyone else. I enjoy washing dishes with him, making breakfast, lunch, dinner, clean up, wash the cars etc. I couldn’t have asked for a better older brother!

 He got a little car for his birthday!

I knew about it, and it was a HUGE challenge for me to keep it a secret from him! 

As a birthday present from me, I baked him a chocolate cake:

Lindt Chocolate’s Chocolate Cake recipe. With a coffee ganache, 

and an Amarula ganache,

and homemade chocolate cigars!

It was VERY good!

Then on Saturday evening CJ and Josua (Josua’s birthday is exactly a week after CJ’s, on the 24th, so it was also for him) invited a few friends to the Lindt Chocolate Studio and they did the Chocolate Appreciation Course.

In this course they learned a little about the history of chocolate, tasting different chocolates and decorating their own Lindor lollies!

CJ went even further and made a little chocolatier face with a hat!

Love it!

They all enjoyed it so much! 

After the course they went to the Italian restaurant Andiamo for a pizza.

Birthday Card for Michael And Some Party Pictures

Hi everyone. I’m here with another card, one I made for my little brother Michael who turned 1 year on the 29th of January.

I sometimes struggle to make masculine cards, since I can’t find much boy embellishments and I don’t work easily with buttons.

But I liked this card a lot!!

I have used an old stamp I have forgotten about.

And used it for this card.

I stuck a 1,2,3 on pop-ups in the middle of the card.

I wrote “Gelukkige 1ste Verjaardag Michael!” in Afrikaans, which means Happy 1st Birthday Michael.

On the morning of his birthday, opening his presents.

He got balls, a big one a three little ones.

He also got two hard cover books.

We made little treasure boxes, and put sweets inside including chocolate money!

We decorated the boxes with gold sprayed noodles.
