Tutorial To Make A Special Gift Box

Hello everyone! I hope your all well! Today I would like to give you a tutorial on how to make a special gift box. To give you an idea of what the gift box looks like,

 here is a picture:

Currently my dad and I both have braces and our orthodontist is in Durban.

On Monday, my dad and I flew up to Durban and stayed over with my Dad’s aunt, so I made this box as a thank you gift.

To make the box:

 Step 1:

Cut a piece of paper exactly 30 x 30 cm.

Step 2:

You will score your piece of paper on both sides of the paper.

First score two set of parallel lines, perpendicular to each other, 10cm from the the sides and each other.

Then turn the paper over, and score the four corner squares from corner to corner. 

This will be the side you stick your paper squares on to, so make a little mark on this side of the paper.

I made a sketch so you can have a better idea - the pink lines indicate where to score.

First score your piece of paper on the pink lines, turn over your paper and score on the blue lines (remember to mark this side).

All the squares should be 10cm.

Step 3:

Cut a set of four square pieces of paper 9.5 X 9.5 and distress them.

Step 4:

Cut a second set of four square pieces from another patterned paper also 9.5 X 9.5

Step 5: 

Cut the second set of paper squares in half , from corner to corner (diagonally), like the picture above, leaving you with eight triangles, from the four squares.

Distress them too.

Step 6:

Stick the four squares and eight triangles on to the 30 x 30 cm piece of paper from step 1. Make sure you stick the squares and triangles on the side you marked in step 2.

Here is another figure I drew, to give you a better idea.

Step 7:

Cut another 9.5cm piece of paper from one of the two papers you used in step 3 and 4.

Step 8:

Turn your piece of paper over, with the squares and triangles facing your working surface.  Stick the square form step 7 in the middle block on the side facing you. Like the picture above.

Step 9:

With the squares and triangles still facing the working surface, take the four corners and fold it in. It should look like this.

Step 10:

Punch holes in the corners of the piece of paper. Be careful to not punch the holes to close to the edges. About a centimeter into the paper, so it does not tear when putting the ribbon through and tie them together.

Step 11:

Decorate the squares with all kinds of stamps and/or embellishments.

I used a stamp on each side, but that took a long time. You can also just decorate it with other embellishments, like flowers.

Step 12:

Tie ribbon through the holes and make a bow.

I’ve used two different colours and widths of ribbon.

Then put a flower on top.

I made up little packets of dried fruit to put as gifts inside the box.

This is what the empty box looks like. 

You can also give the box without anything inside and people can put their own valuables inside.

Thanks A Billion Bubbles - Box

Hi everyone hope you’re all well.

I was a bit sick this week, but I’m much better now.

And it’s time for another challenge over at Stampin for the weekend!

Meljen's Designs kindly sent all the DT’s digi stamps to use for this week challenge.

I decided to use the bunny bathing and use it on a thank you box.

During the past few weeks one of my ballet friends’ mother helped my mother drive me around for the classes and rehearsals and my mother wanted to say thank you. So I made a gift box for her and my mother brought a little gift to put inside.

So here it is:

When I think of aunty Tracy I think of the colour blue. I just think blue fit well with her!

I had paper printed with big blue bubbles for ages and just didn’t have the right theme to used it for - it fitted this digi stamp perfectly!

I coloured the Meljen's Designs digi stamp with the following Promarkers:

Sandston – for the bunny’s body
Rose Pink – for the ears

Carmine – for the hat

Sky blue – for the bubbles

Gold – for the bath

Henna – for the bath brush

Yellow – for the bath brush’s inside

Cool Grey 1 – for all around the stamp

I also stuck a blue flower in each corner of the stamp.

I wrote “Thanks A Billion Bubbles” on the tag, I punched two golden eyelids in, threaded a blue-dotted-satin ribbon through the eyelids and made an upside down bow.

I put some lace with a thin blue ribbon on top at the bottom of the box.

I also put two big golden eyelids at the top of the box and threaded the same ribbons as at the bottom, through, to carry the bag.

And here is the gift my mother brought to put inside.

The perfect gift to go with the digi stamp and paper, don’t you think?

Thank You Card – For A Male

Hi everyone hope you’re doing well.

Today I would like to show you a thank-you card that CJ asked me to make for a friend of his.

When CJ turned 16 on the 24th of August, a friend gave him a one year subscription for the magazine, “Popular Mechanics”!

CJ’s friend, uncle Wiaan also loves horses and rides on the same farm as CJ. He always helps CJ. So CJ asked me to make him a Thank You Card.

Here is my card

I made photos corners out of red paper and stuck it in the card’s corners.

I also put a strip of ribbon behind the stamp.

I used one of my Whiff Of Joy Stamps called “Henry Mouse with large teacup” since he is just so cute!

My mother helped me to stamp this stamp so that you don’t see the Christmas leaves on the teacup.

Here is how:

1. Inked the stamp

2. Then cut double sided tape to fit over the leaves and stuck it onto the stamp over the leaves;

3. Stamp the stamp on your paper and that should do the trick!

I coloured it with the following Promarkers:

Sandston – for little Henry’s body

Blush and Dusky Pink – for his tummy, ears and tail

Henna – for the chair Henry is standing on and the Hot chocolate
Rose Pink – For the marshmallows

Berry Red – for the teacup

Cool Gray 1 – for the steam coming out of the teacup and the shadow around the stamp

I wrote a sentiment, “Sweet Thanks”, since the mouse throws marshmallows into the hot chocolate.

I stuck it on pop-ups and placed it in the bottom, right hand corner.

I stuck photo turners in the corners of the square.

A GDT Easel, Friendship Card

Hi everyone, today I made a GDT card for Corrosive Challenge Blog.

I decided to make an easel card! This week Corrosive Challenge has a sketch and I had this beautiful paper.

I love it!

With the help of my mother, I drew patterns on the scallop.

I absolutely love these flowers!

I bought them at a Scrapbook shop some time ago and it fit this card perfectly.

I wrote “Thank You For Your Friendship” in the top right hand corner.

Here is the inside and bottom strip of the easel card.

I wrote “You Read Me Like A Book”, at the bottom so the two sentences together read: “Thank You For Your Friendship, You Read Me Like A Book”

I still don’t know to whom I’m going to give this card.

But I’ll know when I know!

A Thank You Card For My Ballet Teacher

Hello everybody, hope you’re all well.

This week I made another easel card.

A thank you card for my ballet teacher. She works unbelievably hard at our ballet concerts every two years, and this year is no exception!

We’re going to bring Peter Pan alive on stage and I'm a ‘Pearl’ - this scene takes place in the lake on Peter Pan’s Island and I am also a ‘Rich’ Lost Boy, one of Peter’s friends.

I’m very exited to be a Lost Boy since I'm dancing with Peter Pan, Wendy and Tinkerbell in the same scene.

Danika (my seven year old sister) is a ‘Star’ in a night scene.

Danika fitting her ‘Star-dress’ while my mother is making it.

I will post some more photos of us, when the concert is over.

I thought it would be a good idea to make my ballet teacher a thank you card and give it to her now, while she is working so hard, as encouragement.

After the concert everyone is always full of praises for her and she receives many thank you cards.

So here is my card:

I just love this paper and the stamp fits perfect!

I just love this stamp!

It’s one of my Whiff Of Joy Stamps and I think it fits prefect with a thank you card.

I used my promarkers to colour the stamp. I used the following colours:

Rose Pink - for the elephant (I know elephants are not pink but I think it looks girly)

Carmine - for the hair and end of the little elephant’s tail

Yellow - for the toes of the little elephant and on the flowers

Apple - For the bow tie and green on in the flowers

Sky Blue - for inside the elephant’s eyes

Cool Grey for all around the stamp (to finish it off)

Here I put some of my favourite flowers at the left top corner and right bottom corner.

I wrote “Thank You” at the top right corner.

This is ribbon I once bought at a material shop.

Here is the inside of my card.

I repeated the same textured ribbon on the bottom part of the card, just in a lighter shade of pink.

I also repeated the flowers at the bottom.

I wrote: “For Making Ballet Fun” at the bottom. When you read the two sentiments together is says: “Thank You For Making Ballet Fun.”

Although my teacher expect us to give our best, she still makes ballet fun!
