Kelly’s Sensational Sewing Challenge!

Hi everyone, today I would like to show you a felt crown I made for Kelly’s Sensational Sewing Challenge. The theme is Accessories!

So I decided to make a crown.
I found the patten here and here is how I made it:

1 Cut out the pattens and stick them together. (it comes in three pieces)
2 Pin the patten to Buckram, trace off and cut out.
3 Pin and trace on dark and light pink felt, cut out. (don’t cut out the dark pink felt’s diamonds)
4 Put all three the pieces on top of each other with the Buckram in the middle.
5 pin together and stitch together by hand.
6 Put “velcro” at the back.
7 Decorate.
I decorated it with some round blue gems, red and yellow flower gems, little silver bows and two pieces of ribbon.
Princess Danika (my 8 year old sister) was my model.
The patten says it’s a princess’ crown but to me it looks more like to queen’s crown!

Here are some pictures of Danika:

I dressed her up for the photos, I always love playing dress-up with my little sister

The Princess/Queen on her thrown!

I made her a flower bouquet.

I just love her beautiful blue eyes here!

Please hop over to Kelly’s Sewing Challenge and see if you can join in.
I hope you like my crown and the pictures. I had LOTS of fun taking them!

A Christian Blog Award

Hi everyone! Today I would like to show you a blog award I received from my dear friend Kelly-Anne from Beautiful Girlhood!

The Goal of this particular award is to award bloggers who believe in Jesus Christ and write freely about Him and His glory on their blogs and encourage others. The requirements for this award are to:
1.Explain three things that have encouraged you on your walk of faith, like a particular verse in the Bible or a prayer, book or someone who has really touched your life. It must be a certain moment, whether in church, a retreat, etc.
2.Pass this award onto three other Christian/Godly bloggers.
1 I’m reading a book called “Vroue Soos Jy” by Nina Smit.(It’s Afrikaans) It’s about all the women in the Bible. They take one woman at a time, tell you where in the bible you can read about her and then they explain her life in more detail to you. You get a better understanding of the circumstances she lived in and learn so much from her life. This book is really encouraging to me and I really learned a lot from all the different women!
2 On Monday mornings, my father, mother, two big brothers (CJ and Josua), my younger sister (Danika) and I watch DVD’s by Bruce Wilkinson. All different kinds of series, that teaches us about God. Things like Foundations in Faith, The prayer of Jabez, Secrets of the Wine (John 15), The Three Chairs (how to be sold out to God in all areas of your life), A Life God Rewards (on how what you do here on earth, will impact you life in heaven) and many more stunning series! These mornings teach me a lot of different truths. Things I never thought about before!
3 A book I read about a year ago called “Preparing To Be A Help Meet”, by Debbie Pearl. It’s about preparing yourself to be a wife one day. How to understand your husband better one day. How to be a Godly Pure Girl, in a world which encourages multiple dates, and serve the Lord while waiting for your husband. It’s really a very encouraging book. I highly recommend it to any unmarried girl.
I want to pass this Blogger For Christ Award on to:
Mercy Campbell - from Maiden Of Mercy
Melissa - From Captured Moments

If your name is one of these 3, and you accept the award.
Please do the 2 steps I did:
1.Explain three things that have encouraged you on your walk of faith, like a particular verse in the Bible or a prayer, book or someone who has really touched your life. It must be a certain moment, whether in church, a retreat, etc.
2.Pass this award onto three other Christian/Godly bloggers.
Have a blessed weekend everyone!

Fortnightly Baking Fun Challenge #5:

Hello everyone. Today is Tuesday and it is time for a new Fortnightly Baking Fun Challenge. If you haven’t voted for you favorite Pudding and Desserts recipe, PLEASE go and VOTE here
Since all the my baking challenges so fare was something sweet I decided to have something savoury this week. So the theme is................

Italian Food!!!!!
Now don’t be scared off by not knowing what Italian Food is.
Any kind of Pasta, Pizza, Lasagna etc. You get LOTS of different pastas and I’m sure you and your family must have at least one favourite Pasta recipe!!
Now the PRIZE for this fortnightly Challenge is:

 Food Lovers’
Pasta recipe book!!!
This book is amazing! So many delicious, simple recipes for everyday cooking. This stylish cookbook will help feed your passion by offering a collection of delicious recipes that are straightforward to prepare, doesn’t require hours in the kitchen, and are also a feast for the eyes.
Whether you are making a meal for two or entertaining to impress, you will love using these exiting recipes, and see great results every time!

Each mouth-watering recipe is clearly set out with a list if ingredients, preparation and cooking times, step-by-step instructions and a beautifully photographed serving suggestion.
My example is, my favorite meal, our Saturday night’s homemade Pizza!!

Makes 5 large and 5 small pizzas. (Sorry for the large amount, but I don’t have it smaller!)
 Ingredients for the base:
1.100kg refined spelt flour (or 900g all purpose flour)
8 eggs
5 egg yolks
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
100ml water.
The secret is not to let your dough be to though. Rather make it more sticky and kneed in some more flower than making it to stiff.

Topping:
Tomato puree
Fried Chicken in a little butter and mixed with a dash of chutney
Spaghetti Bolognese mince (you don’t have to have both chicken and Bolognese mince)
Pineapple cut in small cubes
Tomatoes, if cherry tomatoes cut into rings, if large cut in cubes
Mushrooms cut into slices
Green, red and yellow peppers cut in small cubes
Onions cut into rings
Garlic cut in VERY small pieces mixed in a small bowl with a little bit of olive oil
Chillies cut in small pieces and mixed with a bit of olive oil (if you like it hot).
Olives cut in half
Feta cheese cut in cubes
Mozzarella cheese
1 mix all the base ingredients in a strong stand mixer until well combined.
2 Take out of the stand mixer and kneed the dough, you can also add some more flour if needed.

3 Divide the dough into 10 pieces to roll into a thin round layer.
If the amount of dough is too much, you can bake the bases, and freeze the extra basis, until needed again (will save you time the next time!)
4 Punch holes in with a fork.
5 Put in the oven, that should be about 180 degrees C.
6 As soon as the sides of the dough starts to lift up, turn around.

7 Repeat till the dough is strong and when you hold it, it doesn’t collapse.
8 Spread the tomato puree on, to your required taste.

9 Add some salt, and some dried thyme for flavour.

10 Start by putting on the mince and then garlic and chillies. Some of us like only chicken others like just bolognese mince and other half-half.
11 Add all your other ingredients, small things first and then to larger things.
12 Add the mozzarella cheese last.
13 Bake in the oven till the cheese is brown at the top.

14 Serve strait away! Don’t through away left-overs, when reheated(in the oven and NOT the microwave) it makes a fantastic Sunday morning breakfast!

Yummy-yummy! The whole family loves it!
Now you show me your Italian food! It can also be pizza, if you want, or any other italian dish!!
