A Tablecloth Overly For Kelly’s Sensational Sewing Challenge!

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all doing well! Today I would like to show you a tablecloth overlay I made for our Christmas table.
My Mother brought me a beautiful piece of red material with yellow stars on.
I simply cut it in a square, and overlocked it.
It’s quick easy and simple and it looks beautiful!

Here’s a close-up.
Here is what it looks like when I laid the table.
Kelly’s Sensational Sewing Challenge’s theme this 2 months is Christmas. I would like to enter this table cloth into her challenge.
Kelly also has a prize this 2 months! Please hop over and see if you can take part.
Have a blessed weekend

Kelly’s Sensational Sewing Challenge!

Hi everyone, today I would like to show you a felt crown I made for Kelly’s Sensational Sewing Challenge. The theme is Accessories!

So I decided to make a crown.
I found the patten here and here is how I made it:

1 Cut out the pattens and stick them together. (it comes in three pieces)
2 Pin the patten to Buckram, trace off and cut out.
3 Pin and trace on dark and light pink felt, cut out. (don’t cut out the dark pink felt’s diamonds)
4 Put all three the pieces on top of each other with the Buckram in the middle.
5 pin together and stitch together by hand.
6 Put “velcro” at the back.
7 Decorate.
I decorated it with some round blue gems, red and yellow flower gems, little silver bows and two pieces of ribbon.
Princess Danika (my 8 year old sister) was my model.
The patten says it’s a princess’ crown but to me it looks more like to queen’s crown!

Here are some pictures of Danika:

I dressed her up for the photos, I always love playing dress-up with my little sister

The Princess/Queen on her thrown!

I made her a flower bouquet.

I just love her beautiful blue eyes here!

Please hop over to Kelly’s Sewing Challenge and see if you can join in.
I hope you like my crown and the pictures. I had LOTS of fun taking them!

Kelly’s Sensational Sewing Challenge - Bags!!

Hello everyone. My dear friend, Kelly-Anne is hosting a sewing challenge on her blog. It’s a monthly challenge and you have to make something (Kelly gives a theme) and then put it on your blog or e-mail her to enter! Please go to Kelly’s blog for all the detail!

The theme for her first Challenge is............
It’s A Girl Thing - Bags!
I decided to enter too. So here is my bag:
I got the idea on this lady’s blog and I thought it’s a great idea.
This bag is for a little baby girl to play on and put her toys in!
You open the bag, flatten it out for baby to Play on, with all her favorite toys in reachable distance and when she don’t want to play anymore, all you have to do is....

Pull the ribbons!! All the toys are in the bag!
This is handy when you have to go out.  You just grab the bag and Baby has toys and a blanket to play on.
Here is how I made it:
 I cut two circles of the same size with different material;
Make four button holes at four opposite side’s of one of the circles, at 12 O’clock, 3 O’clock, 6 O’clock and 9 O’clock.
Overlock the two circles together,
Make a casing big enough for a continous ribbon to thread though;
Pull a piece of the ribbon out of the casing, at the four button holes;
Make a knot in the ribbon, where they come out of the button hole, to prevent the ribbon from pulling back into the casing.
Me stitching.

Putting the ribbon through the casing.
It’s very easy to make if you don’t have a problem cutting two circles exactly the same size.
This is also a great gift to someone! One of my mother’s friends is expecting a little girl so I made her this bag and I’m going to put some soft toys inside too!
I also made a bigger blue one first, for my little brothers to play on with their DUPLO® blocks.

Daniel holding their big bag of DUPLO®  blocks.

This opened a totally new world to the little ones! They never before enjoyed playing DUPLO®  blocks as much as they do now, since no one enjoy picking  up blocks after playtime! Now they play in front of the fireplace or at my Mother’s feet while she teach the older children.  When they are finished playing (not often) they just throw back the odd DUPLO block, pull the ropes (at the four openings) and put away their bag.
I hope you like my bag! Please hop over to Kelly’s blog and have a look at her variety of beautiful bags!

Making Cloth Nappies For The New Baby

When babies are breastfed they become windy, and you need to wind them. With the winds they may burp a little milk and then you smell bad the entire day!
So we took cloth nappies and decorated them to put over our shoulders.

Me sewing on our normal sewing machine.

The boy’s cloth nappies

The Girl’s cloth nappies
We gave them to a material shop to embroid pictures on.
Then my mom and I sewed a border around the edges of the cloth nappies.
All the different colours and patterns make it so beautiful!

We can’t wait for the next week to pass until baby arrives!
Have a blessed week.
